Purpose To investigate the protective effect of estradiol on the arrhythmias of rats. Methods 120 female rats were randomly divided into four groups and each group have 30 rats. In the first group, rats were treated with estradiol after ovariectomy; in the second group, rats were treated without estradiol after ovariectomy; in the third group, rats were also treated with estradiol and without ovariectomy; in the fourth group, rats were treated neither with estradiol nor with ovariectomy. Then aconitine was used to induce the arrhythmias of rats of the four groups. The ECGs were analyzed by SMUP-PC biological signal processing system. Estradiol content in artery blood was tested after the arrhythmias were induced. Results Group two was obviously easier to be induced arrhythmias than group one; group four was obviously easier to be induced arrhythmias than group three. The concentration of Estradiol content in artery blood was related to the time of arrhythmias inducing. Conclusions Estradiol has the protective effect on the arrhythmias of rats.
